Smart I/O (Ethernet) is a highly expandable, modular I/O system designed for i3 controllers with built-in Ethernet. It allows for easy expansion of I/O capacity, supporting from just a few points to potentially thousands.
Modular: Add up to 8 I/O modules per base, with a wide variety of digital and analog I/O options, including DC inputs/outputs, relay outputs, 0(4)-20mA/0-10V inputs/outputs, thermocouple inputs, and RTD inputs. Modules are available with inputs only, inputs and outputs, or outputs only.
Compact: Smart I/O is very compact, with a base size of 3.5”H x 2.375”W x 1.75”D. Each I/O module adds only about ¾” of width. With 16-point modules, it can support 128 I/O points in a footprint of less than 3.5”H x 8.75”W.
Expandability: Digital I/O densities range from 8 to 32 points per module, and analog density is 4 channels per module. A single base can support up to 256 digital I/O points and 32 analog I/O points. Multiple bases can be easily added to support up to 2048 digital and 512 analog points, expanding I/O to the limits of the i3 I/O memory space.
Easy Setup: Configured using i3 Configurator programming software, Smart I/O Ethernet bases utilize a "plug and play" approach, simplifying setup and configuration.
Convenient Features: Ethernet bases have a built-in 10-100 switch for easy cabling and expansion. All modules have removable terminal strips, digital I/O modules have ON/OFF state LED indication, and analog I/O modules have fault LEDs to indicate sensor errors.
